ICDAR2005 Page Segmentation Competition

The ICDAR2005 Page Segmentation competition was completed in August, 2005. Page Segmentation is of fundamental importance among Layout Analysis steps and has been (and still is) relatively well researched. The motivation of the competition was to evaluate existing approaches using a more realistic dataset and an objective performance analysis system. For more information on the competition, including results, please see the published paper.

The ICDAR2005 Page Segmentation competition follows the successful running of two previous competitions by the same organisers, the ICDAR2001 Newspaper Page Segmentation Contest and the ICDAR2003 Page Segmentation Competition. The ICDAR2005 Page Segmentation Competition is one of several competitions which took place for the ICDAR2005 Conference. For more information on the other ICDAR2005 competitions, please see the main ICDAR2005 Competitions web page.

The ICDAR2005 competition has now ended, but the organisers hope that another will take place for ICDAR2007. Please check here for updates nearer to the time.
