Apostolos Antonacopoulos, heads the Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (PRImA) research lab at the University of Salford, UK and has worked on performance evaluation for the last fifteen years. He co-organised the first competition at ICDAR, the "First International Newspaper Segmentation Contest" in 2001 and has regularly co-organised a number of other competitions.

Basilis Gatos, at the National Center for Scientific Research, Greece has wide-ranging experience in performance evaluation in several subfields of Document Image Analysis. He co-organised the first competition at ICDAR, the "First International Newspaper Segmentation Contest" in 2001 and has since co-organized a number of other competitions.

Stefan Pletschacher, has worked extensively in the definition and representation of ground truth, and particularly in the specification and overseeing of ground-truthing of large-scale datasets of historical documents. He has actively contributed to the organization of competitions.
