Carl Andrew Berry was born in Accrington, Lancashire in 1973. He has a B.Sc. (Hons) Sandwich degree in Applied Statistics and Computing from Liverpool John Moores Universty and an M.Sc. from UMIST in Information Systems Engineering. He is currently in the writing up period of his Ph.D. at The University of Salford where he was part of a joint ESPRC funded project with Christie and South Manchester hospitals looking at intelligent classification of voice quality of patients recovering from cancer of the larynx.
